Yen gains against most major currencies on Tuesday. JPY rose 0.1 percent to 81.11 versus the dollar at 8:46 a.m. New York time. The Japanese currency was also up 0.1 percent at 106.72 per euro, revising an earlier declined. The Japanese currency was higher against 13 of its 16 most-traded counterparts.
Japanese governor Masaaki Shirakawa said last week that the BOJ is “committed” to monetary easing. Deputy Governor Kiyohiko Nishimura also said on April 18 the BOJ is “committed to implementing additional easing measures, if deemed necessary.”
